Nobody likes a stained floor and especially when it’s an expensive one like the marble, the situation turn even more complicated. Marble is a commonly used stone for flooring the kitchens or the bathrooms. Being a porous stone it easily absorbs spills and forms stain. Though hard, it is never an impossible task to remove stains from marble. Here are some tricks to removing stains from marble surfaces.
Blot the area using paper towels or cloth. Never try to wipe the area as this will only cause the stain to spread. Blotting will absorb the liquid and prevent it from seeping into the marble. When the spill is completely absorbed, try using mild chemicals to remove the stain which will not affect the luster of the marble.
There are plenty of commercial stain removers available in the market to remove hard and rusty stains from marble. One has to make sure that it will not damage the surface by following safety instructions given. Covering your body and using gloves when using chemical stain removers will reduce the risk of chemicals damaging your skin and hands.
Ink stains on marbles can be removed with the help of hydrogen peroxide. Sprinkle hydrogen peroxide on a paper towel kept above the stain. Keep it overnight and wash it with hot water and check if the stain has disappeared. The point to be noted is that the marble does stand chances of losing its colour and texture with this chemical, so use sparingly.
Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate which is easily available in household and people rely more to remove household stains. Form a paste by adding few drops of water and spread it over the stained surface. Allow it to dry for a few minutes. Remove the hardened baking soda by wiping it off from the marble. By now the stain should be gone.
Cornstarch is also a helpful agent in removing oily stains. Sprinkle some corn starch over the stain and leave it overnight. The starch will absorb the grease from the surface. Then use hot water and detergent to scrub off the stain. Rinse thoroughly and then check to see if any stains are left.
The above methods can help remove stains from marble surfaces. But first try to understand which kind of stain you are going to have to deal with, so you won’t have to feel miserable after choosing the wrong decision.
